How One Cesspool Truck Tire Changed Everything (30+ Years Ago!)
Picture this. My buddy John owned Central Tire in Islip, NY. He was short-handed one week, so I heroically volunteered to help. Me, thinking: "Pfft... changing a truck tire? How difficult can it be?" First call? A cesspool truck. Yeah... the kind that makes your eyes water from a block away. We're out there wrestling a waste-covered tire, surrounded by flies and the unmistakable smell of regret.
Then — BAM — the dumbest genius idea ever hits me. What if businesses handed out custom air fresheners as promotional swag? Every customer glances in their rearview mirror hundreds of times a day and sees your logo... all while their car smells like victory instead of whatever fresh hell they just left behind. It's advertising that hangs around and actually makes people happy. Marketing gold.
And just like that, Scentsational Promotions (now known as StinkyThings) was born — straight out of one very stinky tire change. That was 1994, and we're still here... outlasting bad smells and bad decisions alike.
